30ft One Trip Shipping Container for Sale, Cut to Length
Nobody manufactures a 30ft box. Shipping lines standardized on 20ft and 40ft decades ago, so a 30ft one trip shipping container for sale is always a made thing: a new container cut down and rebuilt to length in a workshop. This one measures 29ft 11in (9.12 m) long by 8ft (2.44 m) wide and 8ft 6in (2.59 m) high, with 29ft 6in (9.00 m) of interior length, 7ft 9in (2.35 m) of width and 7ft 10in (2.39 m) of clear height. It weighs roughly 7,030 lb (3,190 kg) empty. The floor is 1-1/8in (28 mm) marine-grade plywood, the doors are the original double doors at one end, and a lockbox is fitted.
When 30ft is the right answer
- Driveways and side yards where a 40ft truck simply cannot turn
- Lots with a covenant or setback that a 40ft box would breach
- Storage needs that outgrew a 20ft but do not justify a 40ft
- Workshop conversions wanting a bench run down one full side
- Equipment stores for landscaping, events and rental businesses
- Farm and ranch storage where a specific bay length has to be matched
- Sites where two 20ft boxes would cost more than one longer unit
Against a used 30ft unit, if you can even find one, the one-trip build wins on almost everything that matters: cleaner steel, sound seals, a fresh coat of paint and years of service ahead rather than behind. Against a standard 40ft container, you give up ten feet of storage and gain access to a site that could never have taken the longer box. That is the whole point of the product. Delivery is also simpler, since a shorter unit needs less straight approach and less room to maneuver on arrival.
Length is only half the question. Height and width are fixed at the standard 8ft by 8ft 6in, so what you are really buying is floor area, and 30ft gives you roughly 236 square feet of it. Laid out as a workshop that is a bench down one side and a walkway; as storage it is about a pallet and a half more than a 20ft unit. Sketch what has to go inside before you settle on the number, because reworking the length afterwards is not possible.
How the conversion is done
Cutting a container is straightforward. Making it behave like a container afterwards is not, and that is where the work goes. The shell is cut to length, then a new rear end is fabricated from matching steel with corner posts built in to carry the loads the original castings handled. Get that wrong and you have a long steel tube that racks when it is lifted; get it right and the unit picks up, sets down and stacks like any other container. The whole box is then prepared and resprayed inside and out, so the join is clean and the finish is consistent end to end rather than obviously patched.
Everything else is standard container specification. Corrosion-resistant steel construction throughout, double doors with their original gear, a factory-style lockbox to protect the padlock, and a marine-grade plywood deck over steel crossmembers that takes forklift traffic and dropped loads without complaint. Because the donor is a one-trip shell, the interior is clean and dry rather than carrying twenty years of cargo residue and patched repairs.
We can cut to other lengths as well. If your bay, driveway or setback calls for 26ft or 34ft, tell us the number before you order and we will quote the work. The same applies to vents, personnel doors, windows and shelving, which are far cheaper to add during the build than to retrofit later. We confirm the exact specification of the unit allocated to your order before delivery.
Delivery, payment and returns
Delivery is a flat $550 anywhere in the continental United States, quoted at checkout, with most orders arriving one to three weeks after they are placed. This length sits between the two standard cases, so plan for more than the 60ft of straight, firm approach a 20ft box needs and closer to the 100ft end of the range if your access is tight, with about 14ft of overhead clearance. Payment goes through Stripe on Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay, or by ACH or wire transfer, and we do not collect sales tax. Standard unmodified units come with 30 days to return them and free return shipping; cut-down and modified units are excluded, since they are built to your dimensions. Call to check current lead time, ask about a custom length, or run through the access at your site before you commit.
