20ft Open Mesh Spill Containment Container for Sale

Liquid should not sit where your stock sits. That is the whole idea behind this 20ft open mesh spill containment container for sale: a galvanized grating deck carries the load while anything that leaks drops straight through into a sealed sump below, leaving drums and packaging clear and dry. The unit runs 19ft 11in (6.06 m) long by 8ft (2.44 m) wide and 8ft 6in (2.59 m) high, with 19ft 2in (5.84 m) of interior length, 7ft 9in (2.35 m) of width and 7ft 10in (2.39 m) of clear height. Empty weight is around 6,220 lb (2,820 kg). The grating is rated at 157 lb per sq ft (7.5 kN/m2), which covers loaded drums and hand-loaded pallets comfortably.

Operations that need a grated deck

  • Bulk drum storage where the volume on hand is measured in hundreds of gallons
  • Waste oil, coolant and solvent collection points at plants and depots
  • Agricultural chemical stores handling concentrates and mixing residue
  • Manufacturing sites required to show separated secondary containment
  • Quarries, mines and pits storing fuel additives and lubricants
  • Anywhere containers get washed down and the runoff must be captured
  • Sites where an inspector wants to see the sump inspected rather than emptied around stock

The alternative in our range is the flat deck version, which is easier to load with a pallet jack and better for palletized, sealed goods. Grating is the right choice when leaks are a genuine expectation rather than a remote possibility, because a spill on a flat deck spreads under everything else you are storing and turns a small problem into a full cleanup. With grating, whatever escapes is out of the way immediately and the sump can be pumped out without moving stock. The trade-off is loading: you work with drums, hand trucks and careful placement rather than rolling a pallet jack straight in.

One question comes up on nearly every order: how much does the sump hold. The answer depends on the unit, and rather than quote a figure that may not match the one you receive, we confirm the containment capacity of the specific unit allocated to your order before delivery. Bring that number to whoever signs off your storage arrangements, because the requirement is usually expressed as a percentage of the largest container stored or of the total volume on hand.

Build, security and ventilation

The donor is a new one-trip container, so the steel is clean, the paint is fresh and the door seals have not spent fifteen years in salt air. The grating deck is galvanized rather than painted, which is what keeps it intact when aggressive chemicals and washdown water are part of daily life; painted steel in the same position starts shedding within a couple of seasons. Underneath, the sump is part of the welded structure rather than a tray dropped in, so there is nothing to shift, crack or perish.

Ventilation is heavier than on a general storage unit for good reason. 24 vents are fitted through the shell, keeping air moving so fumes do not accumulate in a sealed steel box and condensation does not form on the underside of the roof and drip onto labels and packaging. Security follows standard container practice. The end doors are hinged and swing back to give the full width of the unit, each carries two locking bars, and there is a factory-fitted lockbox that shields the padlock. Forklift pockets in the base let you reposition the unit around a yard without calling in a crane.

Set it on a level, drained pad. A containment unit that sits out of level does not drain to one point, which makes checking and pumping the sump harder than it needs to be, and it will fight you on the doors as well. Build a sump inspection into your routine and keep the record; the log is usually the first thing asked for in an environmental audit. We confirm the exact specification of the unit allocated to your order before delivery.

Delivery, payment and returns

Delivery is a flat $550 to any address in the continental United States, quoted at checkout, and most orders land one to three weeks after ordering. The tilt-bed truck slides the unit off its bed, so allow roughly 60ft of straight, firm approach for a 20ft unit and about 14ft of overhead clearance, and mark the pad and the door direction in advance. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe, or bank transfer by ACH or wire, and we do not collect sales tax. Standard unmodified units carry a 30-day return window with free return shipping. To talk through what you are storing and whether grating or a flat deck fits it better, call us.
